Thermal imaging cameras react to heat. When searching for a subject under heavy canopy or mountainous ranges the human eye cannot see what the thermal camera can see. This technology has the potential to make searches turn into minutes vs hours or days as the drone can be launched quickly, the imaging is very clear and large areas can be covered very quickly. Once the subject is found a QR code is generated by the drone controller which can be sent to any handheld phone apple or android linking directly into the mapping app directing ground crews straight to the subject.
Thermal imaging can also see through heavy smoke giving firefighters a clear view of any hazards and hot spots.
